The Permit Process in the City of Houston:
|
In the Report (pdf) of Recommendations dated 27 MAY 2004,
the Mayor’s Building Permit Task Force identified the following approvals required by the City of Houston:
- Re-platting,
- Joint Referral,
- Water,
- Waste Water,
- Storm Water,
- TXDot,
- Detention Comp Storage,
- Plan Review Inspection, and
- Utility Developer Participation
Although the words "neighborhood protection" were used twice in the report
and the report praised the City of Houston for an "effective regulatory process",
it is not clear what milestones were used to measure how effectively the
regulatory process is protecting the neighborhood.
This site will attempt to shed some light on the permit process and what
viewing ports are available to the citizen. Any assistance which will illuminate this process would be appreciated.
